locked

locked   9" x 12"   oil on panel

Just finished this painting of a padlocked door on a relic structure at Rancho Camulos.   I was grabbed by the dramatic contrast of light and shadow on the ancient doorway, which really gives the painting its depth.  The worn red paint on the door is one of those incredible things I don't find too often - a proud testament of age, use and strength.  I'm glad I was able to capture this rustic jewel before someone permanently destroyed it with a can of Sherwin Williams exterior latex.
