Wallkill River School Plein Air Workshop

WALLKILL RIVER SCHOOL PLEIN AIR WORKSHOP
6/16/2017 - 6/18/2017 Montgomery, New York.
There are still a few spaces left for my 3-day plein air workshop at the Wallkill River School in New York this June. The workshop will focus on painting outdoors from life (en plein air) along with basic art fundamentals of color temperature, value, edges, composition and paint handling. We will also discuss how to develop greater skills of observation, simplification, identification of a strong focal point and quickly painting “wet on wet” (alla prima) to translate what you see and experience into strong paintings. Participants will paint every day at a different location. Each day begins with a brief demonstration followed by everyone painting, with plenty of one-on-one instruction. The workshop is structured for beginners to advanced painters. For registration information, visit the following link:

Painting From Photo Reference Workshop

This one-day workshop will discuss techniques to quickly transfer the important elements of a reference photo to the canvas, as well as creating an artistic painting rather than simply rendering a photograph. Beginning with a discussion on the "basics" of oil painting (from materials to paint handling), the workshop will also address the fundamentals of color, value, edges and perspective. Learn how to use a reference photo and create a loose, expressive and "painterly" painting!

Instruction will include a short painting demo by Dan, with explanation of his process along the way. Participants will then work from their own photo references incorporating the techniques discussed, with plenty of one-on-one individual instruction throughout the day.

The workshop will be held on October 14th at the River Tree Arts Center, located at 35 Western Avenue, Kennebunk, Maine. Workshop fee is $95.00 ($85.00 for River Tree Arts members). Participants must provide their own materials. For more information, visit https://dangrazianofineart.com/workshops .
