Last week, I completed this painting of the Venice sign.  The original Venice trestle sign, strung across Windward Avenue one block from the boardwalk, appeared with the opening of the newly completed "Venice of America" project in 1905.  However, the original sign disappeared in the late 40's.  In 2004, the Venice Sign Restoration project was created to replace the sign in its original location with a replica.  After 3 years, the sign was inaugurated with a celebration on June 24, 2007.
