Happy Halloween

mansard roof   6" x 6"  oil on panel

My nod to the spooky holiday - a cropped view of the mansard roof on a historic structure I recently saw in Brooklin, Maine.  The mansard roof is typical of the Second Empire architectural style, and also seems to be the favored haunted house style utilized in movies and TV - check out the Psycho or The Adams Family houses.  One can only imagine the frightening collection of ghosts and goolies that must reside in that upstairs room behind the ominous dormer window.....

I would also like to say Happy Birthday to my beautiful grand daughter Samantha (appropriately named) who was born one year ago on Halloween.  Let's hope she is not Bewitched........
