I recently took advantage of a great Christmas sale on the Blick Art Supply web site and picked up a few large Escoda hog bristle brushes at a great price with free shipping.  I decided to do an entire still life painting only using the #24 brush - not quite as big as a house painter bush.  When painting with a brush this size, detail becomes out of the question - forcing one to paint looser and focus more on the larger shapes and blocks of color. 

Dealing with the current ice storm and related power outages here in the North East has made straight whiskey a more important diversion...
