oil painting workshop

Here are a few photos from yesterday's one-day oil painting workshop held at my studio in Castine, Maine.  The day's agenda began with a talk on the fundamentals of painting - composition, value, color, edges, paint handling and critical observation of a landscape/still life subject - followed by a still life demo .  Students then painted three timed exercises in the afternoon, putting into practice the fundamentals discussed in the morning with plenty of one-on-one instruction.
